Located at the north end of the Rainier Valley, Rainier Vista is one of Seattle Housing Authority's redeveloped mixed-income communities. (Read more about redevelopment at Rainier Vista.) The neighborhood's worn out public housing units have been replaced with new apartments, townhouses, and single-family homes, and new parks, playgrounds, and open spaces have been brought to life throughout.
Residents have access to Neighborhood House's Rainier Vista Center and its job programs, computer lab, case management services, Head Start program, and community gathering spaces. A new Boys & Girls Club opened in 2008, and Rainier Vista is close to the shopping, restaurants, and entertainment of the Columbia City business district.
Rainier Vista is within walking distance of direct bus service to Downtown, Beacon Hill, the Rainier Valley, Seward Park, Rainier Beach, Capitol Hill, Montlake, the University District, Ravenna, Green Lake, and Loyal Heights. In 2009, Link light rail service will provide convenient connections between Downtown and Sea-Tac Airport. It is also located within a five-minute drive of I-5, and within 10 minutes of I-90.
